Books and decisions

So, originally, the Escape Key was going to be three books. The other day, my daughter (who reads constantly) suggested I simply put it all into one, big, juicy novel. I went into editing mode and used copies of things to see what it would look like and, I agree with my kid! I think one big, delicious book might be much better for my readers! That way, instead of being forced to wait a year between each, which means you forget and have to either re-read a book or hope you'll remember what was going on. It's a pain in the butt. This way, it all wraps up nicely and although the reader may feel sadness that it ended, it will end in a satisfying way.

Not only that, but this book is extra special as it deals with a really tough subject: domestic violence. This isn't just any fictional novel, this one can actually save lives, or at least help survivors know that they're not alone. That we understand and that there are ways anyone in an abuse situation - can escape. You don't really need a golden key, just your brains, some careful planning and a quiet departure. I hope that my book goes viral, because I want to help people.

I plan to donate proceeds of this book to emergency shelters and domestic violence charities, as opposed to profiting off of other people's suffering. I truly want to help. I want to create a wave of women who support other women. I want to create an actual group of women in real life who can become the 'underground sisterhood'. My book will provide tons of resources, phone numbers, addresses of shelters and more.

In fact, if you know of a resource that should be included, please let me know and I will add it to the book. (Authorhollybhansen@yahoo.com)
